  • Character Name Generator

Ever get stuck for names of NPCs your player characters run into that you never expected to provide them? Here?s a fast and easy way to have many monikers on hand when Rodar the fighter wants to know the name of the brash drunk challenging him to a fight in the tavern, or the name of the shy barmaid over whom they?re fighting. Simply follow the instructions below to produce names for all sorts of characters, including PCs if you like.

While eight steps appear below, you only have to complete the first three to make the generator work. If you check the box below, the program can randomly fill in any blank fields to help DMs who want some surprises. In this way, you can also use this generator to inspire ideas for your games. Need a villain but don?t know what to throw at the PCs? Create some random names -- perhaps "Lord Sterrock Hammerson the Much-Feared" will spark a new plotline.

Once you?ve completed the steps below, click "Generate Name" to create a new character name. You?ll never again have to suffer the guffaws of players when their PCs meet "Er -- his name? Um, the barkeep introduces himself as . . . George."

  • Encounter Level Calculator

So, you're planning your heroes' final showdown with their archenemy...but will they be ready for it? Or maybe you have a party of 5th-level characters but you don't know which monsters will really challenge them? Our Encounter Level calculator was designed for just such Dungeon Master dilemmas.Whether you have specific foes in mind or want suggestions, we.ll help you design the perfect encounter!

You can use this program in two ways:

    (1) Select the Challenge Rating of your chosen foe(s) that have the same CR. This might be a single dragon, a pack of owlbears, or even a mixed group of gnolls and zombies. We'll tell you the proper encounter level.

    OR

    (2) Select the Challenge Rating of any two creatures of different CRs, and we'll tell you the encounter level. Note that in most cases (any time the difference between the monsters' individual Challenge Ratings is greater than 3), the Encounter Level matches the more powerful creature's Challenge Rating.

Remember, whatever doesn't kill the PCs?
